Maxi Dresses for Petite and Taller Women
At 5 ft 3 in, a dress around 58 inches long may require shortening, but height alone cannot determine the finished hem. Compare its measurement method with a similar dress and assess the bodice and waist position as well as the skirt. A shorter hem does not automatically make the entire garment a petite cut.

Can I calculate dress length by subtracting from my height?
No fixed subtraction gives a reliable garment length. Compare a well-fitting garment using the same measurement points and check your intended shoes.
Is a maxi the same as a floor-length dress?
No. A maxi can stop near the ankle; floor length describes a lower hem. Verify the actual garment and how it falls on your frame.
Do heels change the dress length?
