Polyester spandex blend fabric combines the durability of polyester with the stretch properties of spandex (elastane). This fabric composition typically features 85-95% polyester and 5-15% spandex, creating a material that resists wrinkles, maintains shape, and provides four-way stretch.
Fabric Composition Benefits
The polyester component provides moisture-wicking properties, color retention, and resistance to shrinking. Spandex adds elasticity, allowing garments to stretch up to 500% of their original size while returning to their original shape. This blend is machine washable and quick-drying.
Common Applications
Polyester spandex blends are used in activewear, yoga pants, athletic shorts, compression garments, dancewear, and fitted casual clothing. The fabric weight typically ranges from 180-300 GSM depending on the intended use.
Care Instructions
Machine wash cold with like colors. Avoid fabric softeners as they can break down spandex fibers. Tumble dry low or hang dry to extend garment life. Do not iron directly on high heat.
